Stop Press!

Trying to finish Cyprus trip. Four new videos uploaded into previous posts.

After trotting around Southeast Asia over the summer, I'm now back in the UK - Cambridge to be exact. Am trying my best to update as frequently as my clinical course will allow.

Entries on Italy and France two winters ago have been put on hold indefinitely. Read: possibly never. But we shall see.

Entries on Greece and Turkey last winter have also been put on hold for the time being.

Cambodian National Museum

If you are at a complete loss when it comes to Hinduism or Buddhism or Khmer mythology, this is the place to visit before you move on to Angkor Wat. The Cambodian Museum is an excellent repository of Khmer art and sculpture - displaced from Angkorian temples all over the country by whatever means (usually pillage).

Now, I can at least distinguish the statues of their main deities Vishnu, Bhrama and Siva. And I have a rough introduction to the Reamker: the Khmer interpretation of the Ramayana which is depicted on the murals of the walls encircling the Silver Pagoda. I'm not sure if they differ but I wouldn't be surprised if it does in subtleties.
