Stop Press!

Trying to finish Cyprus trip. Four new videos uploaded into previous posts.

After trotting around Southeast Asia over the summer, I'm now back in the UK - Cambridge to be exact. Am trying my best to update as frequently as my clinical course will allow.

Entries on Italy and France two winters ago have been put on hold indefinitely. Read: possibly never. But we shall see.

Entries on Greece and Turkey last winter have also been put on hold for the time being.

Qufu

The seaforest got it wrong so bad. Qufu is far from being touristy. Sure, you still get groups of Chinese tourists. But compared to Beijing's hordes, this is nothing.

Qufu is a quaint little town with seemingly not that many people around. Just watching grandparents walk hand in hand with their grandchildren on the streets makes me feel safe. The streets aren't congested with cars but busy with bicycles, pedicabs and horse-drawn carriages. The food here is cheap and people fight each other for the bill. The weather's great with clear blue skies and sun compared to Beijing's alternating haze and storms.

The hostel. Oh my god! I need to tell you about the hostel. It's a new hostel which opened in May. It's not listed under Hostelling International despite being an international youth hostel. At 30 yuan a night, I get a whole four-person dormitory to myself. Hot water reaches scalding. And there's not only free Internet but free laundry service. Not withstanding, the staff are uber friendly and keen to help. I might ask them to wash my only shirt for me.
